The great thing about blogs is that they allow you to be authoritative so that when you speak, people listen!

But their presentation needs to be clean in order to get that message across properly. I mean, you wouldn't show up to a client appointment wearing shorts and sandals would you? Then your blog shouldn't be dressed down either.

What's also great is that a blog allows your marketing message to be displayed 24/7 and it streamlines your communications process (assuming you're able to put in-place an effective email opt-in campaign and render some good ol' fashioned push marketing). There are only so many hours in the day and your blog allows you to get your message across in a shorter amount of time.

Those are my .02 :D
