Ike Update From Legacy Marketing

To my fellow Houstonians,

I hope Ike was as gentle with you as it was for us. We were very blessed. We made it through the storm with no structural damage and just some small limbs and debris in the yard. It was a two hour clean up job.

To Legacy Clients,

Kingwood is still without power and while Centerpoint is projecting 75 percent of the Houston area to have power by Friday, with all the trees down, it is very likely that Kingwood will be in the 25 percent that is still in the dark.

Due to the gas shortage, I have canceled all of my appointments this week and will reschedule. I am hoping that more stations will be back online and refueled by next week.

I am available by phone; however, service is very spotty. If you can’t reach me, leave a message and I will return your call when the network becomes available.

I am receiving emails, although they are usually delayed by five to six hours. If you need maintenance, updates, or any other type of support, please submit a support ticket in client area. We have someone outside of the hurricane zone that is providing client support.

Hurricane Ike Aftermath

We drove around at about 11 on Saturday (yes, we were one of THOSE people), and saw just how amazingly lucky we were.

The Livable Forest is a beautiful place to live and work, but it makes life exciting during a hurricane. You couldn’t go 100 yards on any of the main streets without a tree across the road and some neighborhood streets were completely blocked off.

There were quite a few areas that had flooded streets. One of the craziest things that we saw was a man trying to clean out the storm sewer in front of the apartments on Kingwood Dr. That was admirable but DANGEROUS!

We are in the City of Houston, but are usually on the tail end of getting services and people are used to taking care of issues themselves. The Kingwood Chamber coordinated citizen cleanup crews and had them ready to go once the storm blew through on Saturday afternoon. The roads were made passable very quickly.

The past few days, people have been hanging out, cleaning up yards, and chatting with neighbors. We took a bike ride around the neighborhood yesterday and streets were lined with debris piles waiting for pickup. The greenbelt trails have not been cleared yet and are still littered with fallen and leaning trees, so we had to do what everyone else does and ride the streets.
