hunt highlighting the Fourth Annual Picnic on the Park festivities Saturday,
April 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Town Center Park at West Lake Houston Parkway and Kingwood Drive.
Started in 2004, Picnic on the Park is becoming a Kingwood Easter weekend tradition. Families and friends come together and enjoy a day at the park with a full day of fun featuring a street fair, food booths, petting zoo, games, parade and entertainment.
The Easter egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. with separate sessions for groups of 10 children in three age groups: 3 and under, 4 to 7, and 8 and up. The event also will feature children’s game booths, pony rides, petting zoo and a coloring contest for children 8 and under.
A new feature of the Picnic on the Park this year is the First Annual Stroll in the Park: a Spring Parade. The parade will be held at 2:00 pm. Parade participants may walk, bike, or golf cart. Pets are welcome. The parade route will follow Town Center Loop with parade staging to begin at 1:15 p.m. in the Heritage Center parking lot on the west side of Town Center Loop. Registration forms may be dropped off at the Pampered Paws Boutique located at 3019 Woodland Hills Drive, submitted online at www.picniconthepark.com, or turned in the day of the event.
Picnic on the Park is made possible by donations and sponsorships from area businesses, vendor fees, and the efforts of a volunteer planning committee with proceeds donated to the Village Learning and Achievement Center. The 2006 event raised $7,800 for this organization, which provides programs for children and adults with disabilities.
Among this year’s sponsors are The Tribune Newspapers, event co-founders Dawn Bajalieh of RE/Max Associates NE and Carla Alvarez of Legacy Marketing Services, Kingwood Radio, and Jump Town..
A wide range of businesses will be offering their wares as part of the street fair, including Arbonne, Discovery Toys, Juice Plus+, Longaberger, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Stampin' Up!, Stuffables, the Traveling Vineyard and artisans featuring fine art, jewelry and crafts.
Sponsorships and vendor and volunteer opportunities for Picnic on the Park are available by calling Carla Alvarez at 713-289-0819 or visit www.picniconthepark.com. Rain date for the event is Saturday, April 14.
